Synopsis

Sara and the remaining survivors have to play a new Sub-Game hosted by the latest Floor Master-- Sou Hiyori, who claims to be a doll and goes by a new name chosen for him by Sara. (Referred to as "Midori" here on out.) Midori tells them they must catch him in this Murderer Game, a game of tag (鬼ごっこ, Oni gokko ? ), which will activate his collar and kill him. Of course, anyone else who ends up tagged also gets their collars activated which will also execute them within a time limit.

Added to that, the survivors are also paired up with "Dummies," doll copies of those participants who didn't survive the First Trial who have no previous relationship with the currently living members.

They grapple with the idea of how "alive" an artificial intelligence is. Just how far are they willing to go to live and could they kill another person to do so? And what makes a human, human? The survivors are also faced with confronting missing memories which reveal why they were kidnapped for this Death Game in the first place.

Plot: Section A

The Red string of Fate

Following the 2nd Main Game, Tia Safalin rushes the survivors to move onto the next floor. They go through the doorway which previously led to the Arbitration Room of the 11th attraction and now leads them to what looks like the Victory Stairs, but with the appearance of climbing the sky.

Once they reach the top, there's a door that leads to a dark corridor. The group stumbles into a large cavernous room with seven coffins around a stone monument. Opening the center one reveals what looks like the corpse of Sou Hiyori, the man Alice killed.

Suddenly, he comes to life and laughingly reveals that he's a doll and their new Floor Master. But first, he allows them to give him a new name since Shin Tsukimi adopted his previous one. (*Hereafter he will be referred to as Midori to avoid confusion.) Before Midori would reveal what the new "Sub-Game" is, the occupants of the other coffins also come to life.

Sara and Ranmaru become connected by the "Red String of Fate".

They're dolls of the other First Trial victims, though ones that the survivors never personally knew. The caveat is that each of the surviving participants is partnered with a Trial victim, connected by a red laser through their collars. (A so-called "red string of fate.") Getting too far apart from their partners is "fatal" to the dolls. Sara is connected to Ranmaru, Keiji to Hinako, Kanna/Shin to Kurumada, Q-taro to Mai, Reko/Alice to Anzu, and Gin to Hayasaka.

Midori explains that in the new game all they have to do is hunt down and kill a certain target... himself. With that proclamation, he runs away, starting off the "Murderer Game".

A monster, later known as an Obstructor appears in front of the cast. There are a limited amount of turns to defeat the Obstructor. If the player runs out of turns, the Obstructor destroys Anzu, trapped inside a coffin. In order to save Anzu, correct actions must be used in the correct order.

Once the ordeal with the monster is finished, the group proceeds past the grave marker to the next room. In front of them is a gate. Stuck to it is a mysterious piece of paper, which turns out to be a map of the fourth floor. Visiting the top left room, the survivors and dolls discuss how it's possibly a bathroom, only for it to not open after attempting to open it. Upon entering the room in the top right of the map, Kurumada makes a comment on how similar the room is a gym he used to go to. The group attempts to move into the next room, when the passage suddenly closes. The lights go out, and Shin/Kanna hear a noise from the walls, leading Sara to warn everyone to get on to the gym mat. A liquid quickly pouring in from multiple windows in the room fills up the room.

Sara inspects the shadow on the floor of the mat, and deduces that something is stuck to the ceiling. Keiji bounces off the ropes and retrieves it, and it turns out to be a knife. Mai cuts the soft ropes with the knife. Ranmaru inspects a white cord on the floor and plugs it into the post, allowing him to change its color to yellow. The colors of the ropes now match the posts, and the liquid disappears and the passage reopens.

After exiting the passage, they find a room full of paintings. Many of these paintings display the deaths of other participants. When the Midori painting is investigated, he will start to talk, revealing it is not a painting but a video call. He tells the cast he has crucial information, such as their lost memories and the reason ASU-NARO is having them kill each other, but refuses to tell them the information, saying they should figure it out on their own. He states that a few of the floors should help them regain their memories. Midori reveals that this "Murderer Game" has a time limit, which is the Dummies' batteries. Shunsuke questions specifically how long the batteries will last, only for Midori to stop talking. The cast confirms with each other that this means ASU-NARO is the organization that kidnapped them.

Proceeding into the next room, there are elevators. However, there is nothing they can do since the elevators aren't working. The next room appears to be a white room with multiple lockers; some open, some closed. There is a bloodstain on the ceiling of the locker room. Keiji confirms that it's an old bloodstain, suspecting that it was from someone's First Trial.

Searching with Ranmaru

Ranmaru suggests splitting up in pairs to search each of the rooms again. Sara and Ranmaru head to the Bathrooms. Noticing the sign looks like two figures holding hands, Sara holds Ranmaru's hand and the door opens. Inside is a fluffy pink room, where a woman greets them. Ranmaru alerts Sara, telling her that the woman is an Obstructor. The woman leaves to get tea, leaving the pair alone and confused. Sara searches the room and finds painting supplies in a drawer, which the woman says she can keep.

Ranmaru questions the woman, asking if she is an Obstructor. The woman admits to being one, but doesn't like to fight, and would rather listen to people in this Discussion Room. Sara drinks the tea offered by the Obstructor, helping her feel relaxed. She wonders to herself about her allies and situation, but the woman interrupts her thoughts. The woman reveals that only one person can survive this game, and that the decision is near; even possibly within the day. The woman asks Ranmaru if he is a pair for objective's sake or if he and Sara are partners, but he doesn't reply. After the woman leaves the room, Ranmaru asks Sara if they can talk, saying it's important. He reveals that there is a human from ASU-NARO among them, and believes this is special information only he has.

The two return to the Art Gallery, and Sara fills in the uncolored parts of the collar painting. The painting opens, revealing a breaker inside. She switches it and power returns to the elevators. Sara and Ranmaru decide to call everyone into the elevator room so they can proceed to the next floor together. In the locker room, Hayasaka accidentally activates a trap and he gets stuck to the ceiling, suffocating, as if being hanged. Eventually, Gin runs into the room to try and save him, but gets stuck to the ceiling as well. The trap is deactivated by Midori, who claims it was an execution he didn't intend to use; it just malfunctioned. Keiji tells Midori that Gin is unconscious. Midori seems delighted by it, saying he is glad to be able to "play plenty more." Ranmaru doesn't believe Midori, saying Midori wants the Dummies dead. Hayasaka carries Gin, as suggested by Keiji.

Everyone heads to the elevators and make way for the fifth floor. Upon arriving, they find a map of the floor and a note from Midori telling the others that he's bored and wants the others to come and meet him soon on the ground.

The two available rooms is another white room with lockers and a classroom. At the sight of the white room, Shunsuke panics and hides behind the others. There are a few noticeable differences between this room and the locker room on the fourth floor; all the lockers are closed, on the shelves sit a voice recorder and a transceiver. The voice recorder announces that the First Trial is beginning and that the participant will have five minutes to escape, lest they face death. It explains that they are not alone and their fate is tied to a person they cannot see, but if the participant is fine with refusing said connection and betraying the person, they will leave the trial safely. Keiji suggests that, if they had the other transceiver, they could communicate. Mai grabs and speaks into the transceiver only for Midori to reply, spooking her and revealing that the other one is in his hands.

Ranmaru holds Joe's dog keychain.

The classroom is similar to Sara and Joe's. On a desk sits Sara's bag. Ranmaru rummages through the bag and finds a small dog keychain, a replica of Joe's. If Kanna is alive, Keiji will ask Ranmaru to give him the keychain, but Sara reassures him that she's fine and states that it's a memento of her best friend. If Shin is alive, Sara will not be able to argue with Keiji since she does not remember Joe. Either way, Ranmaru will reveal that he knows of Joe, although he tells Sara he's only heard a little bit. If Sara tries to give Ranmaru the keychain, he doesn't accept it. If Sara tries to give Keiji the keychain, he pauses before accepting it. There is also a slip of paper on the blackboard labeled as a consent form, causing Alice/Reko, Kanna/Shin, Keiji, and Q-taro to panic slightly, contemplating where they had seen the paper before. They don't remember what the paper was for, but do remember signing their names.

In the next room, there is an office that Hayasaka seems to recognize. There is a suspicious desktop with an open tab that shared information about Sara.

In another room is a police box and a police vehicle. Inside the vehicle is a license that Keiji recognizes. Keiji then informs the others that the place of memories for him would be this place. He then elaborates on his memories, going back to a time where he got into a fight.

Keiji's memory of him and Mr. Policeman.

A policeman came and asked if he was alright. The younger Keiji referred to him as an "patrolling geezer," prompting the policeman to ask to be called Mr. Policeman. He then lied and claimed that he simply tripped, but the policeman informed him that he saw the whole thing and knows that Keiji got into a fight. He then asks him to stop by the police box, stating that they have tasty coffee. Keiji talks to the police officer about why he got into a fight, stating his bullies were making fun of him. The policeman informs him that what he did wasn't correct, confusing the small boy who claimed to be in the right, to which the policeman says that the more right he was, the less reason he had to fight. Keiji tries to defend himself by asking the policeman if the police too, use violence sometimes to get people in line. Mr. Policeman figures out that Keiji wants to be a police officer when he grows up. He gives Keiji his safe-birth-good-luck charm, explaining that he will be a father soon and tells Keiji to return it to him when he becomes a policeman.

The Security Office

After exploring all areas on the fifth floor, Sara notices there's an empty space on the fifth floor map in the same place as a room on the fourth floor. The group decides to investigate the library, where the theoretical room would connect to, and discover a security office. Midori's collar is found, and it is decided that if they take it and examine it they might be able to figure out how to take off their own. On one of the six monitors, an AI is activated who happens to be of Shin Tsukimi from before he entered the Death Game. Midori walks in on the group trying to get information from the AI and turns it off.

Midori asks for his collar back, but is denied. Midori prepares to fight with the group, but it is instead suggested that they make rules for the game. Midori begins a game of Tag, where the person who's collar glows red is "it" and can pass the role off to someone else by touching them. Starting with Sara, whoever is "it" after 1 hour loses. Midori runs away and the participants and Dummies gives chase.

They run into fanged book Obstructors in the Library, hindering their progress. An alarm clock and smartphone alarm are found making noise, and crushed so they will stop. Keiji motions for everyone to be extremely quiet, and the Obstructors stop bothering them. If the group fails to do all of this on time, the books will attack Hayasaka and kill him.

Finding Midori

Everyone splits up into their partners again to continue the search for Midori. Sara and Ranmaru collect four different colored books. A red book from the Discussion Room, a yellow book from the Office summarizing the physical exam data of the participants and a green book from the Classroom with information about the strongest Obstructor, Maple. Q-taro helps to retrieve a blue book from the Boxing Ring titled "Shin Tsukimi AI Test Data." Sara returns all the books to their proper places in the Library, and a staircase opens up towards a secret area where they find Midori.

Plot: Section B

Coffin Trouble

Keiji trapped in the coffin, being haunted by his hallucination.

Keiji, trapped inside of the coffin, furiously pounds on it's lid with his fists, trying to escape. The panic causes Keiji to hallucinate about his cop friend and memories of Megumi Sasahara, until slowly stopping and calming down.

Sara realizes the battled between Keiji and Midori caused a rift between the humans and the Dummies. She demands Midori to tell her how to save Keiji from the cremation system, who reiterates that the only way is to sign the consent form. He places an hourglass with pink sand on top of the coffin to measure the time until the cremation system starts, while also commenting how he cannot wait, because the coffin is "fancy and new."

Just as Sara is about to sign the consent form, it's torn in half by Ranmaru. Before causing a stronger rift in the group, Ranmaru goes up to the coffin and asks Keiji how he is doing. Keiji responds that he is okay with dying because his anger and blame on Midori, instead of owning up to his own actions is what caused the rift and his entrapment. Ranmaru promises to save Keiji with the help of the dummies, saying they need to make it up to the humans for betraying them, and that he no longer wants him and the dummies to be Midori's toys. Midori mentions there is another way to save Keiji but believes no one can do it in time and that he will surely die before walking away. However, Hinako refuses to work with everyone and stays by Keiji's coffin, while Sara asks Keiji how he is, and Keiji responds with an idea on how to open the coffins; in the Control room on the 5th floor, there was a control system for the coffins in the surveillance room. Everyone except Hinako, Keiji, Mai and Q-taro go to the surveillance room.

Once they arrive, Sara finds the controls for the coffins, however Sou/Hayasaka point out that they need to disable the security access to be able to use it. They find a fingerprint scanner on the main control desk and all take turns trying to use it, but with no response. Sara can obtain a First Aid Kit from the Office room to use on Q-taro. Once they arrive at the cemetery, however, Mai will be awake and visibly worried about what she had done. Q-taro defends her however and reminds everyone that staying united and trying to escape together is what needs to be done, not killing each other. Mai breaks down crying, not being able to understand why Q-taro isn't enraged at her for stabbing him, but he digressed that he would have done the same in her shoes if he got the chance. Q-Taro's wounds are fixed with the First-Aid kit and he gets the energy to join the group, while Mai offers to help shoulder him so he can walk.

Ranmaru removing his forearm.

Once re-entering the surveillance room, Q-Taro tries to scan his fingerprint on the main control desk but nonetheless it doesn't work, however Mai attempts to use her fingerprints on the sensor and it glows blue, unlocking the level 2 security access, much to her confusion. Two more monitor's light up; the rightmost displaying a 'Dead Collar Control System' and the leftmost displaying a 'Dummies Control System'. The Shin AI explains their functions; the Dead Collar Control System controls various functions of the Dummies' collars, such as Pairing, Life Sensor and a Bomb which explodes once the dummy runs out of battery. Sara ponders on disabling the Pairing function and giving the Dummies Free-Roam, which Kurumada warned would give the Dummies more access to kill the Participants, however, Sara proves her trust to Kurumada by disabling it anyway. The Shin AI explained the Dummies Control System; which displays the Battery amount of the displayed dummy (by default; Ranmaru) by their Head and their Torso, which uses two different batteries, and also mentions that dummies can receive Upgrade Parts to replace their limbs. Ranmaru tests this and removes his right forearm before falling over in shock, realizing he truly is a Doll. He stutters that while he knew it already, he was secretly hoping he was still a human. If Alice is alive, he boasts that the emotions he has is proof he is a human being and that his physical body is irrelevant, which Ranmaru accepts and finds his composure again. The Coffin Control System unlocks new controls with level 2 access; Shutter Controls. When Sara clicks 'close', it closes a big iron shutters which encloses the entrance to the cemetery, instead of the coffins. After re-opening the cemetery shutters, the group figures that Level 2 Access is not enough to control the coffins and must unlock Level 3 security access.

Once they re-enter the cemetery, the group explains everything to Hinako, who is shocked to hear they disabled pairing and are trusting each other. Hinako objected that the dummies cannot survive without killing one of them, while Anzu countered saying she cannot bring herself to harm any of them, when they are all so nice. Hinako admitted she is too reluctant to take a helping hand from anyone, before disclosing that they need Midori's ID card to unlock Level 3 security access. The group deduce Midori must have it and travel to the Classroom, with Hinako. Once they arrive however, he is nowhere to be seen, only a spare transceiver and an ID Card with his face on it on a desk. The group take both and go back to the surveillance room. If the player chooses to scan the ID card, a "trap" ensues (which is Shin's face filling up all the security monitors). If they choose to not scan it, Shin's AI warns them that if they did, it would cause a trap. The Shin AI decides to answer the group's questions if they want, as he believes they've had it hard.

The Shin AI tells Sara and the others about Midori AKA Sou Hiyori; Ever since he was young he really loved humans to the point that he would intentionally hurt them in many ways to learn how they suffer and if he could manipulate their memories. The group wonders how they can restore their own erased memories and the Shin AI responds that Midori intends them all to remember, and has likely planned a way for them to do so. The Shin AI then also disclosed how to find the ID Card; Midori had given it to Maple as a gift, along with a letter in an envelop when she wouldn't stop annoying him, in an attempt to make her go away. The Shin AI wars that Maple will very likely try to kill them if they attempt to take it, and advises that there is a useful book on her in the Library.

Taking Maple out to Breakfast

The player can travel to the Library and take the whole collection of green books on Maple, which will close the entryway to the stadium area. The group can then travel to the Tea-Room entrance, yet discover only Sara and Ranmaru can enter inside. Once the pair enter, Maple greets them and offers some tea before asking various questions and then conversing about Midori, and how much she is in love with him, and believes he is slowly getting feelings for her bit by bit, because of his "presents" (the envelope and ID card). Out of the blue, however, Maple asks if Sara thinks she can win the Death Game, and advises that no matter what, only two people can win the death game, and after living together in the building for a while, one must choose to be a doll while the other remains human. which is decided by a debate and ends in a ritual. She also confesses there is a special case to winning; if they survive the death game as a pair, they get to live free as a pair, which Maple would prefer since that will end without Midori dying. Before the conversation continues Maple senses the other members of the group outside the door and assumes they are waiting for Sara and Ranmaru, and she begins to clean up everything, exposing her back, which has the ID card fitted into a horizontal slot with 3 colored buttons underneath. Either Sara or Ranmaru can attempt to take it, but Maple catches them and accuses them of doing something mean. In a panic, Ranmaru snatches the envelope and tries to convince Maple they need the ID card so Midori can write a follow-up to the envelope, but Maple ignores this and enters an emotional rage and attacks Sara and Ranmaru.

A battle ensues, and Maple swaps into one of three emotions (Rage, Sad and Happy, in that order) in each of her turns. Ranmaru can Dodge Maple's attacks when she is in her enraged state, but with a limited amount of times. Sara can attempt banging on the door for help from the outside group, if successful, Sara can then attempt to take the ID card, but only when Maple is Sad or Happy, as she attacks Sara when enraged. Once Sara is behind her back, she must click one of two buttons that corresponds with her current emotion (Blue if Sad, Yellow if Happy). The ID card is then taken, which causes Maple to go into a deeper rage and accidentally destroy the doorway to the room, which allows everyone inside. She glitches out and rapidly switches between emotions, while jagged, black tendrils emerge from her back and attacks the group.

Kurumada trying to stop Maple.

The group then does a variety of actions from accepting a handkerchief from Maple, to telling jokes and even giving back Midori's letter according to her emotion; the fight ends with Anzu (or Sara, if Anzu is dead) reconciling with Maple and Kurumada injured, ripping a hole through his torso. The group then flees the room, but Q-Taro's injury makes him unable to move with Mai staying behind. Gin tries to stay behind, but Hayasaka (or Sara, if Hayasaka is dead) takes Gin while they reach the elevator. After reaching the fifth floor, they rush to the control room. After scanning the ID card, the security footage is disabled but the Level 2 security systems are unlocked. To prevent a rampaging Maple from entering the Cemetery, they closed the shutters before opening the coffins. After opening the coffins, the dummies' victim videos started playing, then footage of Midori finishing the revival of Ranmaru. Midori tells him that in order to survive, he must have his partner take his place. Midori says in other words kill his partner. After the video ends, Kurumada stays behind and tells everyone to give the ID card back to Maple. If Kanna is alive, she stays behind to try to help Kurumada.

The group tries to use the elevators, but it is no longer in operation. Leaving them with no choice, they return to the control room. If Kanna is alive, both Kanna and Kurumada are missing. If Shin is alive, Kurumada chews the group out for returning. In either case, the Shin AI tells them that Kurumada can be saved by charging him to extend his life. The group conclude that if there is a charger in the fifth floor, it would be in the place they haven't searched, the locker room. After checking Mai's data, showing that she's safe, they head off to the locker room. After some investigating, they found a lantern. After activating the lantern, the door is shut and some objects fell down. If the wrong object is placed in a locker, the magnetic pull gets stronger. After getting the objects into their correct lockers, the magnetic force is disabled and the locker opens to show a passageway.

Lost Memories

The group then enter the passageway to a room with a large machine and a safe. They come across a manual, which explains how to use the charger. Then after investigating the safe, they discover a photo of Reko. Gin turns on the lantern, triggering Reko/Alice's lost memories. In Reko's lost memory, she recalls Midori telling her that Alice's crime as an accident, and that the organization can help her out. In Alice's lost memory, he angrily confronts Midori as to why Reko is participating in a future death game. Alice then shoves Midori off the second-floor terrace. When he looks at where Midori landed, he was shocked to see Midori not bleeding despite being impaled by a fence post. Midori tells Alice what he did is unforgivable. After Reko/Alice's memory ends, they realize that Alice was set up.

If Kanna is alive, the group looks for Kurumada. After finding him, they explain to him that they found a way to save him, but Kurumada refuses to listen. Kanna then slaps him, telling Kurumada that he's acting like Shin was, trying to sacrifice himself to save the dummies. Sara tells Kurumada that there is a charger that can save him, and Kanna carries him to the locker room as support.

The dummies attach the charger to Kurumada. He then reveals his unique info, where the floor master dies when they see their doppelganger. The group then pass through a door that leads to the classroom. Upon entering the classroom, they find Midori. Reko/Alice confronts him about the photo. Midori then launches his hand, piercing a wall. He dubs it the "rocket punch". Midori says he's angry he lost his seat in the death game because of the incident with Alice, and then tells the group to scan everyone's memories. Reko regrets not believing in Alice, while Alice was surprised he was able to remain calm. The group then agrees to split up to investigate the entire floor.

Alice's Lost Memory

Sara goes into the locker room to find Alice, and uses the lantern on him to search his lost memories. The memory that was hazy for Alice is a certain day in his prison cell. Alice recalls an emblem having an AS logo engraved. He then remembers doing a tally on how many days have passed. Sara then asks about the guard seeing him, and Alice remembers the guard is Midori. He questions what he was doing there, when Sara tells him to calm down.

Sara asks about the trash can, in which Alice recalls seeing Midori's scarf. Alice then remembers bongos near his bed, but the bongos aren't from Reko. Alice then remembers reading an article about his murder case. He tried to approach the guard and was surprised to the point of almost collapsing. Alice then remembers there are handcuffs on the cell.

Alice's Lost Memory.

After recalling everything, Alice remembers gathering information on his murder case when one morning, he received a gift. He was angry seeing Midori, angrily telling him his family is in disarray thanks to him and that Reko is unable to do music. Alice then threatens to kill him for what he's done, not caring if Midori is now dead. Midori tells Alice that he can sign a consent form. He explains the Asunaro vow that can grant him any wish. Alice agrees to sign it if it meant he gets an opportunity to kill Midori.

Gin's Lost Memory

Sara enters the police box and finds Gin investigating in cat mode. Sara activates the lantern and finds a wanted poster, causing Gin to remember The Hades Incident. He recalls that there is a murder spree between the yakuza a long time ago. Sara looks at the poster again and finds a bulging finger. The finger falls out, scaring Gin away.

Sara then uses the lantern on Gin to search for his lost memories. Gin remembers being in an infirmary, unsure if it was fun or scary for him. Sara asks Gin about himself in the infirmary that day, and Gin apologizes for lying to Sara, saying that he was wearing the outfit he's wearing now. Sara is confused as to why Gin is apologizing, when he mentions that although he's fine now, he is unable to go outside without his outfit back then. When Sara asks why, Gin felt too hesitant to explain, saying he didn't want to keep anything from her. Sara tells Gin that he can tell her anything and won't judge him for it. Alternatively, Sara tells Gin there is nothing weird about that, surprising Gin. She then tells him that he has helped them many times, and Gin happily replies that he'll try even harder. Sara then thinks about Gin's outfit and how important it is to him.

Sara then asks Gin about the teacher, and as Gin tries to recall, he was shocked that the teacher he was interacting with is Midori. He then questions why a teacher who is willing to listen to his worries would kidnap him to a death game, and then bursts into tears. Sara hugs him until he calms down, apologizing for making him remember. Gin then tells Sara that he wants to know what is a lie and what isn't.

Gin remembers a black safe where the teacher places the papers, and won't show Gin. Sara wonders if it's an observation log of Gin. Sara asks about the first aid kit, and Gin realizes it was too big for a first aid kit, then remembers it's actually a speaker. Gin happily tells Sara that the teacher always plays music to calm him down so that he can talk about what's going on at school and home. Sara wonders if Gin is doing counseling.

Sara then asks about the butterfly drawing, but Gin remembers that it was actually a drawing a teacher bring to show him. Gin describes it as a bad ink stain, and Sara vaguely remembers seeing something like this before. Gin tells Sara his drawings are way better, and suggests they draw pictures together, which Sara hesitates. After reluctantly agreeing, she hopes Gin doesn't get upset seeing her drawings.

Gin then recalls that there is a consent form, and wonders why he has forgotten about it. Sara then asks about the pen holder, and Gin remembers a black pen that was only there when the teacher is in the room. He remembers there is a hidden camera, and then jokes about being targeted by a secret service from another country. Gin and Sara both wonder if this was actually true.

Gin's Lost Memory.

After Gin remembers everything, he explains to Sara that he's autistic, meaning that he has a lot of anxiety whenever he's not wearing his outfit [2]. Gin is assured by Sara when she doesn't think there's anything wrong with that. But he then tells her that Midori kindly told him that he can "get better". Gin remembers asking Midori if he really can get along with everyone, saying that he doesn't like a lot of his classmates but wants to play with them. Midori tells Gin he also didn't have a lot of friends because he got into a lot of fights in school, in which Gin calls him a delinquent. Midori changes the subject by telling him his mom says a lot of good things about him and that she's happy with how he is growing up, which surprises Gin as he expected his mother to think he is too much trouble for her. Midori tells Gin about the Asunaro vow, saying that they can grant him any wish. Gin wishes for his mom to live a long and healthy life, surprising Midori as he expects Gin to wish for himself, but Gin says he'll be fine on his own and wanted to show her his power. When Midori tells Gin he's a good kid, he admits he just loves his mom.

Kanna's Lost Memory

Sara then enters the library to find Kanna reading a book. She then uses a lantern on Kanna to find her lost memories. Kanna recalls being in an ice cream shop with her sister, Kugie, who frequently visits the ice cream shop. This time she took Kanna with her. Sara asks Kanna about the clerk, and as Kanna remembers, she felt uneasy that the ice cream clerk is actually Midori. She questions how long has Kugie been to that ice cream shop. Sara asks Kanna if she wants to rest, but she insists on continuing.

Sara asks about Kugie, and Kanna remembers that she had her carry a bag because she wanted to pick out a cake, and took a lot of thought in picking the right cake. Kanna then recalls paper ice cream cones, and remembers that they have writing of people's wishes. She remembers asking the clerk about it, but can't recall exactly what it was. Sara then asks Kanna about the ceiling lights, in which Kanna remembers that it was a big glowing ice cream. She thinks it's cute, and wants one in her house. She then mentions she knew the shop was an ice cream shop because of the light from outside, and knew Kugie often visits there to buy ice cream to eat together with Kanna.

Kanna then realizes they actually went to the ice cream shop around the evening. Kanna delightfully said the ice cream was delicious, and because it was earlier than usual, Kugie went to a different store, which Kanna didn't expect there to be cakes as well. She then wonders if eating on the way home is making her stomach rumble, which Sara wonders if it's called the "Pavlov's Dog". Kanna tells Sara that was mean.

Sara asks Kanna about the back wall. Kanna remembers a consent form, but couldn't remember what she asked the clerk. Sara asks about the green ice cream, and Kanna remembers they ran out of the green tea flavored ice cream because Kugie ate too much of it. Kanna mentions that she herself prefers more sweeter flavors such as vanilla and chocolate.

Kanna's Lost Memory.

As Kanna recalls everything that day, she went to a sweet shop with Kugie. After seeing written wishes on the wall, she asks the clerk about it. Kugie asks Kanna what the conversation was about, and Kanna explains the Asunaro vow. Kugie teases Kanna about wishing she stops wetting the bed, which Kanna tells her not to say it in public. Kanna tells Kugie that she wanted the clerk to grant her wish instead. Kugie was about to tell Kanna what she wished for, but stopped herself. She says she wished for Kanna to meet her fated partner, but Kanna tells her she's fine. Kugie questions that as they will separate when she gets married, which Kanna is okay by if she finds someone who loves her as much as she does.

Reko's Lost Memories

Sara enters the locker room to find Reko, and she then used the lantern on her to find Reko's lost memories. Reko recalls being in a cafe where the photo was taken. Sara asks about the weather that day, and Reko remembers that the weather was terrible. She wanted to meet with someone regardless of the weather. Reko also remembered the vines being shortened to get rid of the blind spots. Sara wondered if it was because of the incident.

Sara asks Reko about the music sheets on the table, however Reko realizes the music sheets was actually articles of Alice's case, and the man she was meeting with was the one who presented them to her. She remembers feeling angry and saddened her that Alice's case has been derided. Sara then questions Reko about the person she's meeting with, and she realizes they weren't a band member, but Midori. She is shocked as to why she forget meeting with him, and recalls talking with him about Alice's murder case, but unable to remember the rest of the conversation. Sara tells Reko to calm down as she gets stressed with trying to recall what happened between her and Midori.

Sara asks about Reko herself, and she realizes she feels miserable as she was listening about Alice's case. Sara then asks about the guitar case, which Reko remembers that it really wasn't a guitar case, but rather it was a big suitcase, and what was in the suitcase has bring Reko into tears. Reko also recalls a security camera next to a wall, which originally wasn't there before until the incident.

Reko's Lost Memory.

After remembering everything, Reko explains to Sara that she was meeting with Midori because he told her that he knows everything about Alice's case. Reko remembers hysterically questioning Midori about the false charges against Alice and why he doesn't acquit him. Midori asks her if she even thought it was strange how there wasn't any info on the victim, and then mentions the organization can help her out. He gives her the consent form and explains the Asunaro vow. Reko demands him to release Alice so that she can meet with him. Midori tells Reko that he is his only ally, with Reko thanking him.

Shin's Lost Memories

Sara then enters the library to find Shin reading a book. She then uses a lantern on him to find his lost memories. Shin questions why he should answer to her, for her to respond that he has the strongest connection to Midori out of everyone. Shin remembers being in a place he frequently spends time with Midori, and mentions that he taught Shin a lot of things.

Sara asks Shin about himself, which he recalls wearing Midori's scarf, not understanding why. He admits that he had no idea what Midori was plotting. Sara then asks about Midori, and Shin remembers that Midori one day went up and disappeared. He wondered if it had something to do with Alice's murder case. He mentions that if the victim's name is publicized, he maybe would feel shocked and relieved. Shin explains to Sara that although he is a friend, he fears him at the same time, and tells Sara she wouldn't understand the feeling.

Sara then questions Shin about the briefcase, and Shin realizes it's gone, and in its place is a letter thanking Shin and to tell him to delete all the data. Shin didn't comply and tried to snoop into the data, but a program deleted it anyway. Shin then remembers the note with the passwords are gone, and wonders if Midori got rid of them. Shin comments that Midori always appeared to do meaningless stuff.

Sara asks Shin about the heater, in which he replies that he ran it in maximum heat settings. He explains that it's easy to catch a cold, which is why he heats the room. Sara wonders if that was safe to do with all the other machines on, which Shin replies that Midori is against the use of the heaters, which is why Shin uses the heaters whenever Midori isn't around.

Sara asks about the night cityscape photo, and when trying to remember, Shin feels uneasy. He says Midori loves having pictures of Shin, but doesn't allow for any photos of him. Whenever Shin tries to take a photo of Midori, he gave him a murderous glare. Sara then asks about one of the monitors, in which Shin remembers there is a consent form. The consent form is a file for printing, and he would've deleted it. Sara pointed out Midori would've made a new one if it was deleted, and then asks if Shin actually signed the consent form, only for him to be silent about it.

Shin's Lost Memory.

After Shin remembers everything, he explains that he and Midori liked playing at a secret base in his house, messing with computers. When Midori disappeared, Shin felt relieved and lonely, and recalls a memory. He remembers Midori asking what his wish is, if it's about money, freedom, or power. Shin mentioned one day that he overheard his parents talk about a sibling, though he doesn't know about their gender or if they're younger or older than him. Midori asks if he wants to meet with them, though Shin felt meeting with them would disappoint them. Midori encourages Shin to go ahead with the wish, saying that he'll grant it for him. He then explains to Shin about the Asunaro vow, and makes him sign an agreement form. Shin then tells Midori that he's like a bigger brother to him.

Trivia

  • The release date for the chapter was revealed in the Chapter 3 PV on February 13th. The PV was also shown on a big screen on the Hareza Ikebukuro building.[3] [4]
  • For players who played the first half of 1-A on NicoNico (where the game ended just as everyone got on the elevator), there was a small bonus scene for those continuing onto the second half: In the elevator, as Sara is going up, Keiji asks her if she's okay as Sara anxiously calms herself.
  • Section B was made twice. Nankidai plans to release parts of the scrapped section on his FANBOX.

The bullets in the first Russian Roulette.

  • The Banquet Russian Roulette was foreshadowed by the Russian Roulette played in the Blue Room in Chapter 1, Part One. Not only is Meister once again the host, but the number of coffins and the colors lights of those coffins match of the number of live and "dummy" bullets, albeit in the inverse color: 3 red live bullets and 6 blue dummy bullets, as opposed to 3 blue light-living humans and 6 red light-Dummy dolls.
  • The "Data"/save icon image was updated to a more accurate image of Sara in 3-1B to go with the new Keiji save icon.

One human has entered a coffin.

  • While Sara is exploring by herself and using the lantern to retrace people's memories, if you check the Coffin Control System, you can see when Q-taro entered the coffin.
